Birmingham Parking Authority announces new Board Members

(Birmingham, AL) – The Birmingham Parking Authority (BPA) is pleased to introduce two new board members. Mrs. LaKisha Mack and Mr. Jeffrey Havercroft will join Mr. Heager L. Hill on the three-member board. Mrs. LaKisha Mack will serve as the BPA board’s new Chairwoman and Mr. Havercroft has been named the new Secretary/Treasurer. “I am delighted to welcome such strong and diverse members to the BPA. I look forward to working with them in the coming year,” said Hill.


Mrs. Mack holds multiple undergraduate and graduate degrees from UAB and Samford University. Her career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) began more than 20 years ago. In her current role as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration in the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM), she ensures organizational alignment in the areas of finance, human resources, facilities, communications and compliance for HSOM. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to join this board and I am looking forward to doing my part to further the mission of the BPA,” said Mrs. Mack.


Mr. Havercroft is a graduate of UAB and the University of Alabama School of Law. He has also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Serving as a Civil Engineer for more than 15 years, his experience includes working with clients in the design and construction of building sites, roadways, subdivisions, utilities, and storm drainage systems. Prior to his career as an engineer, Mr. Havercroft practiced law. “I am honored to serve and to build on the foundation already established at the BPA,” Mr. Havercroft said.


Mr. Hill graduated from Morehouse College with further study at Harvard University and Cumberland School of Law. He has an Lh.D from Miles College. He is the former Alabama State Director of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Hill is returning to his position as Vice-chair of the BPA board.


The public is invited to join the BPA Board meetings either in person or via Zoom. The meetings are scheduled on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. The November and December meeting dates may be adjusted for holidays. Meetings are held at the BPA Administrative Office which is located at 1732 5th Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35203.


About the Birmingham Parking Authority

The Birmingham Parking Authority (BPA) was formed in 1972 through an act of the Alabama State Legislature, which established the Authority as a separate entity of the City of Birmingham for the purpose of developing and managing off-street parking facilities. The BPA currently manages seven (7) parking decks and three (3) parking lots in the downtown area which is a total of 8,116 parking spaces.
